Asbestosis Compensation Claim

Many people may at first refrain from making a claim when they suffer illness or an injury in the workplace for three main reasons. (1) They are afraid it may have a detrimental effect on their employment status and/or (2) because the legal arena can seem too complex and (3) because they feel the cost will be too high. But you have a legal right to claim compensation and the facts are clear:

  1. Your employer has a responsibility to ensure your safety and well-being while you work on-site. They expect you to claim compensation and so take out Employer Liability Insurance to cover the eventuality.
  2. As specialists in workplace claims will guide you easily and swiftly through the legal process.
  3. Our solicitors’ work on a no win-no fee basis so cutting costs to the minimum.

What is Asbestosis?

Asbestosis is triggered by exposure to asbestos. This material has now been banned because of its side effects, but after the Second World War it was used regularly to lag pipes and boilers and for insulation. Even now there are a great many properties built before 2000 which have asbestos in the building structure. Under health and safety regulations it is the duty of employers to ensure the environment where their employees will be working is made safe beforehand and constantly monitored.

What are the symptoms of Asbestosis?

Asbestosis initially causes shortness of breath. Other symptoms include chest pain, an unexplained cough and tightness across the chest area. Asbestosis cannot be reversed or cured. Your GP may recommend medication and oxygen therapy.

Making a claim when exposed to asbestos in the workplace

It should be taken into account that Asbestosis may not appear straight away. You may have to go back several years to pin down its cause in some cases. Once your GP has diagnosed Asbestosis you need to track back to determine the source of the illness. To make a compensation claim you will need to prove it was your employers fault. There are strict time limits to personal injury claims so contact us to find out how we can help you through.
